The Meldon Jacket is a very practical multi-use fleece from Sprayway which they say “sits where baselayers and midlayers meet”, writes Mike Gormley.

The Sprayway Meldon is very well suited to our mixed types of weather here in the UK but clearly that also applies to similar conditions wherever your travels might take you.
This is an easy wearing fleece made from largely recycled polyester and elastane that make up the Stretch CoreC fabric. This material really has a nice feel to it and on the inner side it is something you can wear next to skin in comfort. It also has a grid design which will trap air for added warmth, as well as allowing for air movement to prevent things getting clammy if it is on the warm side.

This is one of those highly versatile garments that you can wear as a standalone and you can take with you on those days when it might cool down later or when the weather changes a bit. The Meldon is light and very packable and recovers well if squished into a backpack ‘just in case’ and does not look shabby. The pockets are of really good and practical size, so work very well if worn as a top garment and the Meldon is also very good as a mid-layer if required.
Available in five sizes, from S to XXL, and either in a darker grey shade called Blazer (as here) or a lighter shade called Fossil, all-in-all I reckon this is a very handy item of gear.
