Lightweight and comfortable are key features of the latest Oboz Katabatic hiking shoe with Gore-Tex Invisible Fit lining, says Mike Gormley.

Here in the south-west of the UK this spring we enjoyed some pretty good weather, so this latest offering from Oboz was very timely.
The Katabatic LT Low is a lightweight walking ‘approach’ type shoe which has been put through its paces by a friend of mine, Lizzie Merrick, who is well suited for the task. Often when out on Dartmoor and while local walking elsewhere in Devon she has found the Katabatic LT from Oboz to be easy wearing light and, importantly, comfortable footwear; ideal also for everyday use, both in town and around home, as well as when out hiking.

Although a low style of shoe this version has a Gore-Tex Invisible Fit waterproof lining, bonded directly to the uppers, so when Lizzie finds a few puddles or wet ground this helps to keep the feet dry if she doesn’t get too adventurous. The Oboz ‘Trail Tread’ soles offer good grip if on rocks, especially if it is a bit damp. Lizzie took these on a while back but recently I met up with her on Dartmoor to get a few action shots and by then she had got to use the Katabatic shoes a lot and had really got to like them.

These light weight all-rounders have a good amount of recycled materials included in their robust and flexible construction. Lasted for the female foot, they are manufactured in half sizes from UK4 to UK8.5 and are available in two colours; Black Sea, as here, or Glacier.
