Helly Hansen Lifa Merino Base Layer Pants, or Long Johns as we commonly call them, keep your legs comfortably warm, writes Mike Gormley.

As I write this spring is showing through where we live, but Scotland still has snow (plus some of the Baltic Region, Ed.) and so do many other places. However you don’t need snow to make use of these.

A cold day out on a boat will ensure these long johns are a most welcome garment to have handy. They are made mostly from Merino wool, a really good start if you need to keep warm. These have 57% Merino and 43% Polypropylene forming Helly Hansen’s LIFA 2 in 1 fabric. This is a very nice to wear, cosy feel material so perfect for those cold or chilly days out. The material helps to keep the wet out and also allows for the breathability we like to have when active, to prevent us getting hot and uncomfortable as we keep warm. These are very comfortable to wear and the flat lock seams help a lot with this.

Mine are Dark Spruce and other colours are available. Certainly up to the Helly Hansen label.
